Jazz, Cabaret & AMIS
The AISC Jazz Ensemble consists of saxophone, trumpet, trombone, guitar, piano, bass and percussion players. Students who play other instruments are sometimes accepted into the band. The Jazz Ensemble plays a wide variety of modern jazz/pop music, including swing, bebop, cool, modal, fusion, rock, Latin, hip-hop, funk, R&B and other styles.
The educational emphasis in this after-school activity is on awareness and enjoyment of complex, alternate forms of popular music; development of advanced rhythmic and harmonic aural skills; basic improvisation; and developing a wide and stylistically appropriate palette of articulations.
All high school students are invited to join the Jazz Ensemble. Advanced middle school students are often included.

Cabaret! is an annual variety show produced at AISC featuring the best music, dance and other performers from the AISC student body. Performers are selected by audition in January, and complete an intense eight-week rehearsal schedule. Once the content of each act is polished to perfection in the practice room, technical rehearsals are conducted to address blocking on stage and to design the light and sound for each act. Technical rehearsals are followed by full dress rehearsals including costumes, lights, and professional sound. Finally, at the end of March, each successful Cabaret performer gets to feel the heat of the lights and the applause of the crowd at AISC's biggest night of the year....Cabaret!
Association for Music in International Schools hosts audition-only music festivals in Europe and Asia. Successful auditionees come from top international schools on six continents. Festivals offered by the AMIS organization include the Middle School Honor Band and the Middle School Honor Mixed Choir. Students wishing to audition for one of these prestigious festivals should commit to significant daily practice. Recent AMIS events have been held in London, Paris, Dubai, Delhi, Yangon, Beijing, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and more.
