ES CIC Lessons:
Students in preschool to third grade have CIC lessons once a week. Preschool students have CIC time for 30 minutes and students in kindergarten through third grade meet for 45 minutes. During CIC time students hear stories and have the chance to check out books. Sometimes we also work on fun and important library or research skills.
Students in grades four to five also come once a week to the CIC with their teacher to look for books and to read.
ES CIC Resources:
The ES CIC currently holds over 44,000 books. Our print and digital collections include many genres, such as: adventure, biographies, classics, graphic novels, historical fiction, mystery, and much more. There are hundreds of award-winning titles as well, such as Newbery or Caldecott. Over 10% of our collection is in a language other than English.
How Resources are Organized:
Our books can be found in different sections around the CIC. Our sections include: Animals, Biographies, Countries and Civilizations, Fine Arts and Folktales, Graphic Novels, Health, Holidays, India, Lower Elementary Fiction, Novels (organized by genre), Oral Recordings, Picture Books, Poetry, Science, and World Languages. Each section is color coded and clearly marked to help students find books more easily.
If you are interested in finding book recommendations, please use our catalog, browse the shelves, check out our interesting book displays, or ask any CIC staff member. We are here to help you!
Early Years: 1 book
Grade 1: 2 books
Grade 2: 3 books
Grades 3-5: 5 books

You can keep a book for two weeks. After two weeks, the book is overdue. Please return your overdue books. If you have more than one overdue book, you need to bring them back before you can begin checking out other books again.
Lost or Damaged Books:
Please pay for any lost or damaged books or magazines (plus $2.00 for shipping). Please see CIC staff for a bill, which you can then pay at the Cashier’s Desk.
Using the CIC at Recess/Lunch and Before/After School:
Elementary students can use our center during the school day (8:30-3:30), including recess and lunch.
Elementary students can also use our center before or after school if they come with a parent (8:00-8:30 a.m. and 3:30-5:00 p.m). Students also need to be with a parent when visiting the CIC on Saturdays.
